Testimonial from the Wynnum Golf Club re in house training
Having previously been to the 2 day function supervisor boot camp with Bill Shirley. I returned to my workplace with the problem of how do I best pass on the enthusiasm, knowledge, skills and passion from the workshop to our team? How can I inspire or motivate the staff to always strive for higher standards of service and take more pride in their work?
I started to write a training program and short skill session templates when I could find the time. After not making much progress as spare time seems to be non existent I approached my Boss for approval to get Bill out here personally for a whole day. He agreed, we made a date for a quiet Monday and I started plugging the day to our staff, trying to build enthusiasm and excitement as much as possible.
Bill flew in to Brisbane early in the morning and we kicked off the day at 8:30am with an hour or two on the espresso machine. Everyone had a turn at making the various coffees following the same procedures and methods and started turning out good consistent coffee. We then moved to the functions related content covering everything front of house from the beginning to the end of a function and wrapped up just before 5pm.
If you have ever been to a workshop with Bill you will know how good he is at getting the attendees involved and this was no exception. Everyone was focused, participating and giving something back to the group. By the end of the day our staff had also written a procedures list for functions and most importantly they wanted to see them correctly followed and implemented.
For me the day was a wonderful success, the staff got a lot out of it and I have seen a marked improvement in the effort and quality of service from our staff. I have also charged our standout staff with ensuring all new staff gets trained to follow the same standards and procedures AND they want to do it.
In summary I recommend the Supervisor 2 day boot camp but if you can definitely get Bill out to your venue for a whole day. Your staff will love you for it and more importantly you will get results. Money well spent in my view.
Our Wedding receptions have been fantastic since Bill’s help. We did a good job before now we do a great job.
